Pittsburgh Opera Wedding: Mike and Alison
Let’s talk about this Pittsburgh Opera Wedding. It was epic! Alison and Mike had the best party, the best time and it was an honor to capture their day for them. Here’s more on their planning process, thoughts on weddings and marriage and more details about this very special couple. Congrats guys!
From the bride, Alison:
What was your inspiration behind your wedding day?
We wanted something that was timeless and elegant so black and white was an obvious choice for us. That being said we still wanted to embrace the character of the Pittsburgh Opera and add fun details that represented our personalities, so the final product is a result of all those things together.
Advice to share with brides planning now?
We would highly recommend a day of coordinator. (We were obsessed with Em + E Events!) I genuinely enjoyed planning and wanted a say in every single detail of the day, but at the same time I wanted to enjoy the day of without worrying or stress. Emily met with us beforehand to understand our vision so that on the day of she could handle everything for us.
Additionally, we would recommend doing a first look. Not only does it work wonders for a day of timeline, but it allows for a quiet, intimate moment shared just as a couple on what is otherwise a hectic day. And even though we had already seen each other, it was still emotional for us both when I was walking down the aisle.
How did you and your spouse meet?
We met at a mutual friend’s house on the Southside and ultimately exchanged numbers at Carson City Saloon.
Proposal Details! How did it happen? 🙂
Mike took me to my favorite restaurant, Tako, for my birthday. After an evening downtown we came home where I found an apartment full of flowers and him on one knee. Immediately following, he had arranged a surprise engagement party that included close family and friends, many from out of state.
What was your favorite memory from your big day?
Our favorite part by far was experiencing the overwhelming love and support from not just our friends and family but also total strangers. Anytime we were in public people would go out of their way to wish us well; we truly felt as though the whole city was celebrating with us.
