I have been waiting for Josh and Yumin’s big day all year! LOL, maybe even more excited than them. Okay, probably not true! This wedding was so special and almost perfect. While Josh and Yumin live in Chi-town, they hosted friends and family from all over the world at this epic Lingrow Farm Wedding.
From the Bride, Yumin:
What was your inspiration behind your wedding day?
Life’s scenery. We love being in nature and I always envisioned getting married on a farm in summer. Josh likes animals, especially horses, so there were no objections from him. Once we saw the Gazebo and pond at Lingrow Farm, there was no question, the idyllic farm was the one. We also wanted to incorporate some unique flora (succulents) and fauna (antlers) into our floral arrangements.
Advice to share with brides planning now?
Make your future husband a list of things you know he can accomplish and always confirm the specifics. Think about what are most important to the both of you and do not compromise on them. If you are into DIY projects, Pinterest is an amazing source of inspiration for simple but beautiful projects. My husband and I are in no way craftsmen but were able to leverage building materials from torn-down houses that were resold at a local store for pennies on the dollar, and with some TLC and tools from Home Depot, we were able to build a ton of our wedding decor.
How did you and your spouse meet?
Well Josh actually missed his direct flight to Boston and was lucky enough to be rebooked on a new flight with a layover in New York. He sat right next to me. It was 7:00am in the morning and all I wanted to do was sleep. I was traveling to New York for an interview and Josh was traveling to visit his father in Boston. I went to close the window shutter as the sun was shining into my eyes and Josh felt that was his opening to strike up a conversation.
It started like this: “It’s hard to sleep on the plane, right?” “I’m fun-sized so I don’t really have that problem”. He was a pretty charismatic guy. After the flight, he chased after me on the tarmac and asked if he could have my number. How could I refuse, he was the most handsome and charming person I had ever met on a plane. (This last line was written by Josh)
What was your favorite memory from your big day?
Josh: The “treacherous” boat ride with one oar. I was afraid I was going to splash water on my beautiful wife’s dress! Or even worse, fall into the pond. Good thing I have my canoeing Merit Badge.
Yumin: When Josh lured the horses out of the barn so we could take pictures with them while I was freaking out and avoiding all the horse poop.
Both: When we were done exchanging our vows, and the clouds parted, sun shone down while we walked back down the aisle to “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles.
