When I'm not photographing or with my family, I get lost in pop- impressionism oil paintings. Check out some of my work here.
Katie and Christian’s Fall Wedding at Phipps was one of my favorite of 2024. Katie is a wedding planner herself, so she thought about things from the perspective of a bride/planner combo! No detail was left unthought of. She took extra care to build extra time in for photos, and she also was sure to make sure that all her vendors were well informed and well cared for. I appreciate this so very much!
And THEN, Katie left the KINDEST review to top it off:
We cannot recommend Dray highly enough! Not only is his work is beyond stunning, but he was such a joy to work with. Everything from our first call with him up through the wedding day was fun and seamless. His professionalism makes him so easy to work with leading up to the wedding and we entered our wedding weekend without any stress knowing we were in such capable hands. On the day, Dray is exactly who you want with you. His calming presence is a breath of fresh air, but he also makes the process really fun. He has the perfect balance of capturing organically special moments, while also helping pose you and your group for the perfect picture moments. We had the best day with Dray and the photos from our preview are already so gorgeous. We truly cannot recommend him enough, if you are looking for a fun, professional, and beyond talented photographer, Dray is your guy!!
What was your inspiration behind your Wedding at Phipps Conservatory?
We wanted our wedding day to be a simple yet elegant affair. For the ceremony we aimed for a feeling of elevated whimsy and romance. We chose cheery colors and florals to celebrate the end of spring and beginning of fall. For the reception, our main goal was to have the best party ever and keep the dance floor packed! We also made sure to have a few nods to our dog, Basil, in our specialty drinks and on some of the signage.
Advice to share with brides planning now?
Start early! Get as much as you can done so that you can really enjoy the final weeks leading up to your wedding. Also trust your wedding vendors! They have a wealth of experience and knowledge and are your best resources.
How did you and your spouse meet?
We met at a Penn State tailgate! We both went there for undergrad and despite having mutual friends, we never crossed paths. As fate would have it, we both ended up attending a homecoming tailgate after graduation thrown by one of those mutual friends. There was an instant connection and the rest is history.
Proposal Details! How did it happen? 🙂
Christian planned a surprise proposal and dinner at the top of Mount Washington. He had a friend hiding among the streets to capture the special moment and proposed right at the Mt Washington overlook. Afterwards we enjoyed a very special dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto.
What was your favorite memory from your Fall Wedding at Phipps?
Our first look. We opted for a private first look with personal vows and it was such a special moment! It gave us a chance to really take everything in, just the two of us and it took a lot of pressure off the actual ceremony.
