When I'm not photographing or with my family, I get lost in pop- impressionism oil paintings. Check out some of my work here.
2020 stole many amazing things from us all.. temporarily. I will never take for granted the privilege it is to take wedding photos for lovely couples like this one. Their elegant country club wedding at Valley Brook was so elegant and classic. They had their ceremony and reception all at the same place, making it easy for guests to relax and enjoy the day. Best of all, they shared countless memorable moments throughout the day. I am honored I was able to witness it all. The bride shares more here:
What was your inspiration behind your elegant country club wedding day? I am undoubtedly a simple kinda gal that loves neutrals. I love a clean, elegant look that will forever be timeless. We initially started with all white monochromatic and began to incorporate gold after seeing the gold tones in the Valley Brook ballroom. From there it all fell into place as we added decor and florals! We have also always loved the feeling of having both indoor and outdoor components to a wedding venue and Valley Brook fit that beautifully!
Advice to share with brides planning now? Zac and I planned our wedding throughout the pandemic, and although we unfortunately had to change venues, we fortunately were able to keep our original date. We held true to what our wishes were and really utilized our outstanding vendor team to help all of our dreams come true! On that note, I would say don’t lose sight of why you are planning your big day, stick true to what matters to you both, and invest in your vendors – it is beyond worth it! Additionally, on the “Day Of” take a moment just you and your husband on the side and soak it all up! It is truly a remarkable feeling to see a room full of all of your family and friends there to celebrate you both!
How did you and your spouse meet? It was Winter of 2014 when our love story began! Funnily enough, Zac and I actually went to the same undergrad university, however we only had mutual acquaintances and never actually met until we both moved back home to Pittsburgh. As fate would have it, we ran into each other on the legendary 3rd floor of Mario’s. What was meant to be a few minutes of catching up on each other’s lives since graduating from Mount Union, quickly turned into a much longer conversation during which sparks flew! It was only a matter of time until the two of us were on our first date and creating our “happily ever after”!
Proposal Details! How did it happen? 🙂 I was on the tail end of finishing my doctorate and was fortunate enough to have a clinical rotation back home in Pittsburgh. Zac had planned a dinner night out at one of our favorite restaurants (Alla Famiglia) to celebrate me “being home”. Little did I know it was actually to celebrate what turned into the night he proposed!
Two of our best friends were coincidently over that day and although I thought it was a little odd, they were sticking around until we left for dinner, I didn’t think anything of it. Before we left for dinner, I had asked them to take a picture of us on our “photo wall”. The meaning behind our “photo wall” is that ever since we have moved in it unintentionally became the wall in our home where all of our friends and family take pictures in front of, so although it sounds cheesy, it will forever be a sentimental and significant location for us! After our friends took a few photos I began to walk away as Zac pulled me back towards him, he was already down on one knee! They captured the whole thing on through photos and even on a GoPro hidden in the room!
As if I wasn’t already on cloud nine, he really outdid himself when we returned home from dinner and there was an intimate surprise party planned at our home. When we turned the lights on, the room was full of all of our close family and friends!
What was your favorite memory from your elegant country club wedding? It is so hard to pick just one! If I had to pick, I would say walking down the aisle is undoubtedly my favorite. There was such a magical connection between Zac and I as we made eye contact as I walked toward him. Knowing within this was just the beginning of our happily ever after with so much love from our family and friends surrounding us was such an amazing feeling!
