When I'm not photographing or with my family, I get lost in pop- impressionism oil paintings. Check out some of my work here.
Kat and Andy’s Art Room Pittsburgh Wedding was one I looked forward to for a very long time! They both spent months of time making sure every single detail was thought of and gave me so much time to take photos on their day. We had the BEST day together for their engagement session and I just KNEW their wedding would be incredible.
Kat and Andy are both so thoughtful and kind, and they took organization and trust to a WHOLE new level. I count myself blessed to have had the opportunity to work with them both! Read more about their big day below.
PS — I just LOVE that Kat let her bridal party select their own attire, staying within the blue family. Some may be nervous to see how this works out, but I highly recommend it! Everyone ends up with an outfit they love, feel comfortable in and within the budget that works for them. Check out the photos, isn’t the final result stunning?
More from Kat and Andy:
What was your inspiration behind your Art Room Pittsburgh Wedding day?
The inspiration behind our big day was to showcase Pittsburgh’s industrial scenery (strip district, The Art Room with its hardwood floors, brick walls, and tin ceilings) but still incorporate classic touches (heavy florals, St. Paul Cathedral, live music) to create a romantic city chic vibe.
Advice to share with brides planning now?
Start planning early! It felt good to be able to relax as the day approached and overall we felt calm knowing we prepared as much as possible. You can’t control the weather no matter how hard you try! Pittsburgh will surprise you with its weather so instead of stressing, be thankful you hired Steven and know he will adapt the plan if necessary to capture your day perfectly. It is difficult to remember as everything flashes by so fast, but take a few conscious efforts throughout the day to look around and take it all in – your big day!
How did you and your spouse meet?
We met through Valley View High School band during our freshman / sophomore years of high school and remained friends.
Proposal Details! How did it happen? 🙂
Andy proposed on November 21, 2020 at Point State Park a few months after visiting Skelton Jewelry to look at rings. It was a rainy day in Pittsburgh, but Andy insisted on going for a long walk with our dog Scout. Andy proposed after a few laps around the park. Pittsburgh friends were hiding in the park along with champagne and a surprise photographer. It was the most perfect pandemic surprise.
What was your favorite memory from your Art Room Pittsburgh Wedding?
Katrina – I can’t pick just one! My favorite memories of the day were walking down the aisle (of course seeing Andy’s face but also I remember vividly the joy of all our closest family and friends), dinner / dinner music (Bistro to Go’s fabulous crab cakes and our custom cocktails), and dancing to live music all evening (I think every guest twirled me around ha! and I loved our last dance song).
Andy – My favorite memory is the first time I saw Katrina walking down the aisle. That was the first time I can ever remember being so overwhelmed with love and joy that I could not help myself but cry.
